Venus on Earth

VENUS ON EARTH I could never understand how this life works Here, there is but a feeling that is beyond slumber I could leave my thoughts to mother Earth and her large breasts More than twenty-four hours, yet my mind lives in wonder   Never had I thought I could ever find you – The map was stolen; the scale was broken, then my heart too Three tools that never remain hidden: The sun, the moon, and the truth But there is a fourth tool; the sound and letter ‘u’   You are stuck between the letters ‘t’ and ‘v’ It is more evident that you are a stunner I was curious about the package you would be You were very strict because I did not matter   Many days have grayed; years might, soon You were only a dream, but these eyes do not deceive me Do I deserve your sweet, singing voice, and your smooth groove? Beauty may lie in the eyes, but every part of my body can feel you   I remember the first day; while the sky felt darker I ha...

Hidden Truth

HIDDEN TRUTH I am that which you might hardly define My absence is poor And my presence is divine Your eyes are far from the truth But your hand is closer to it Unveil this mask And tell the world that I lie

Love - The Price

LOVE - THE PRICE Change is worth only one price Love, That which is priceless

The Shadows

THE SHADOWS The shadows that rise from the East Fall unto the West And those shadows that rise from the North  Fall unto the South

Here To Stay

HERE TO STAY Butterfly, butterfly would you come again? Let me know, let me know what you have for me Butterfly, butterfly would you fly away? Let me know, let me know if you are here to stay Faithful dog, faithful dog would you come again? Let me know, let me hear an alarming bark again Faithful dog, faithful dog would you go away? Let me know, let me know if you are here to stay Eagle bird, eagle bird would you come again? Let me know, let me see you fly high again Eagle bird, eagle bird would you fly away? Let me know, let me know if you are here to stay Ghostly friends, Ghostly friends would you come again? Let me know, let me hear you knock at my door again Ghostly friends, ghostly friends, would you come again? Let me know, let me know if you are here to stay

Hatred

HATRED Hatred While people love its fruit, I ignore it When all is beautiful, it argues When I am wrong, it stands to correct But why hatred? I beat myself to understand it What is love without it? Though I hate to love, I love hatred My life is empty without it

Like A Dream

LIKE A DREAM She stares into my eyes like Aphrodite And now, I am forever tempted to wink more than I can Seduction defines her lips – yes, she speaks it O! love, you have lost your way into my heart so quickly She shoots her charm at me from a distance; I die She upgrades her breath with her mind With eyes like twinkling stars, travelling through a distance I can look no further, but my brain is shattered by this stance She is a Ghanaian – far from anyone I have seen Dark in the light; and light in the night Thunder claps at her first sight at beauty And the cold air whispers, while lightning strikes

Fate Speaks

FATE SPEAKS Often closer are days that run slower than these tears Before these little eyes of mine that are but merely blear Is it January – the eldest? Alas, he is already here February, send red roses with a red letter to my dear March me hurriedly, straight to none but to hers April – One, and many other dreams that never were May I live herein forever desperate, fed by Despair? June, let me know from your mouth, the things I must wear July, I see you, you see me; but are you there? Drive me through, safely to August; for my age lives there September – A fairly faithful, fervent friend; my first fear October, I hear you walk the streets, closely near November, you are overly underrated, but rare; far from ver December – the end of the year: the ‘r’ to my ‘ear’

While You Breathe

WHILE YOU BREATHE While you breathe, the world sleep And the sun burns, and the nights’ creep Yet it seems like nothing is in their right places And your red heart turns blue with time Then your loud voice sublimes while you sink And you fall down, and death winks And these red roses drive you through pain and disgust And the walls of your belief crumble to dust There in your heart is a place Built from an iota of vanity You steal through all the paths of this world And nearer you are drawn into its crevices We are going, the choir sings Not even Heaven knows where you go You are a mouse trapped in a mouse hole Filled with the tears of a slave You are too scared to pray Because the world cough and sneeze While their temperature rise They burn the remnants of your peace Oh how sudden! That you crush your faith in the Most High Oh how sudden! That you forsake the souls that fade into ghost life Babylon burns you, tries to be...

Who Are We Deceiving?

WHO ARE WE DECEIVING? The world has stood the test of time And here we are breathing more life into it There may be some explanations to this Yet, we can barely look at our watches while they tick We can't wash the blood off others, and off us I tell you; we are too perfect to face judgment I am a victim; so while I ponder I ask so many questions, but who are we deceiving? I wonder There is a time to be born, and a time to die But there is no time to recover from vanity A time to pretend; a time to be valued at this world's insanity A time to let go our purposes; a time to live in scrutiny There are so many skeletons to bury; a single tear drop coupled with tragedy Jesus has given up His blood for us What more could He give up for us? We lurk, and lurk, and there is no more room fit for us We rejoice while we live But we are so shy to deny death at all Do we really understand the consequences that emerge from the little excuses we give? Are we devout Chri...

Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue

The blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice The deeper the memories that love remains true I dare the hardest of all diamonds to prove its worth And lo, beauty is the dream, now I speak of her birth I sing the musician's song, to warm your heart This is the day that lives forever; a day without the night I tell you stories, where roses die, but love, not And crazy, the cheetah that battles my heart, in speed and in might Roses are red Violets are blue Readily I fret; yet there's love anew February is red The month is new I speak so much but Happy birthday to you!

Barabbas

BARABBAS I lived two thousand years ago A thief, a rebel was I My name is Barabbas And I was condemned to die On Friday morning the jailer came In the early light I could see As he dragged two thieves away he said Barabbas you can go free The crowd outside was angry And I could hear them roar Barabbas, Barabbas as the jailer unlocked my door I made my way through the city gates Out to Mt. Calvary Instead of two crosses on that hill I could see that there were three Who's hanging there upon my cross The one they built for me Who's dying there in the middle That Barabbas might be free A purple robe, a crown of thorns A face forgiving and kind Nailed to the cross on Calvary The cross that should have been mine I lived two thousand years ago A sinner friend like you My name is Barabbas But yours is Barabbas too ©Eldred Hill(Lonesome Note Music-BMI)

The Fairest Morning

THE FAIREST MORNING When the crystalline sea glows And a sudden wind flutes into my ears I put my heart into this day Yes, my thick blood meanders, and basks; The warm, mother star tells me so! My clear eyes - the open windows to this world Widen my mouth and my cheeks Because all four is alive with me Whilst the clouds - like enormous snowflakes Keep watch over me like sentinels Behold, I lock all frailties till I-do-not-know-when Like the Spring, a fresh day dawns The land lies flat; that I wonder But a grateful heart is all I have got

Why?

WHY? WHY do we try to cry hope? WHY do we have to pry home? WHY do we try to find gold? WHY do we have to die old?
