The Fairest Morning

THE FAIREST MORNING

When the crystalline sea glows
And a sudden wind flutes into my ears
I put my heart into this day
Yes, my thick blood meanders, and basks;
The warm, mother star tells me so!
My clear eyes - the open windows to this world
Widen my mouth and my cheeks
Because all four is alive with me
Whilst the clouds - like enormous snowflakes
Keep watch over me like sentinels
Behold, I lock all frailties till I-do-not-know-when
Like the Spring, a fresh day dawns
The land lies flat; that I wonder
But a grateful heart is all I have got
